Rimmel: Wake Me Up Foundation

It's not often i feel the need to praise foundation whatsoever. Infact, I've become a bit of a 'foundation-hater' the past year due to the fact i can never find one to match my skin tone and because i really dislike the cakey feeling of it on my skin - therefore the introduction of BB creams to the market has come as a bit of a godsend to me. So, when i tried a sample of the Rimmel 'Wake Me Up' foundation in a recent magazine (never one to waste samples!) i was shocked to find i actually really liked it.

Now, i'm aware that there has been a few reviews of this floating around just recently so i'll attempt to keep this short and sweet. But the fact that i have found a foundation i actually ENJOY to wear is something short of a miracle. I shall explain why..

What Rimmel Say:
"Our first foundation that visibly awakens and illuminates skin with a radiant glow and a flawless natural-looking finish. Instant anti-fatigue effect. With peptides and a Vitamin moisturising complex"

What I Say:
Does exactly what it says on the tin (or rather the glass bottle).

It makes my skin look instantly brighter in the mornings and it glides on like a dream. The overall consistency is a light to medium coverage which i personally prefer as it doesn't seem to clog up the skin as much. I don't like my skin to look like i'm wearing makeup and this one certainly gives this finish; it also gives my complexion that lovely dewy finish that most foundations seem to lack. I've actually found i don't need to wear as much concealer when i use this, as it seems to reflect light really well and covers a multitude of under-eye circle/late night sins..

One of the things i usually hate about foundation is the powdery-chemically-false smell, but this one is really fresh and light (think Boujois healthy mix or Garnier BB Cream), and you don't feel as if you are applying something to your skin that is going to stop it from 'breathing'.

The packaging is surprisingly very good and i actually quite like the hefty orange lid..
Usually with a drug-store brand i'd expect your average plastic-y bottle and cruddy squeezy tube, but this one comes with a hygienic pump and glass-finish styled bottle of which has quite a weighty feel to it. For £7.99 I'm definitely not complaining at the quality!

I also found the shade range to be decent. I have yellow undertones to my skin and i find a lot of drugstore brands are predominantly pink in tone - the shade i bought seems to blend in well with my skin and doesn't look false. Win.

Overall..
I don't know how i could live without this little bottle of miracle-ness in my life now. It really does seem to make my skin look healthier and smoother in tone (i also struggle massively with dark circles under my eyes and this seems to solve the problem even better than a concealer does..!) I use my Loreal Studio Secrets Primer before i apply and it lasts all day without going patchy and feels weightless on the skin. If you liked Boujois Healthy Mix, then this is similar in concept and similar in fragrance.

Rimmel have definitely created a cracking product here (it's saved me a shed load of pennies too as i've found i prefer this over my Estee Lauder..waahey!). I reckon it will be a firm favourite of mine well into Spring (it also contains SPF for you sun-conscious ladiess), and i really recommend giving this a whirl.
