I swear some of the gift sets that are launched around Christmas were never intended to be gifts, instead they were designed to entice you to spend money on yourself. As much as I would love to be able to have the 'one for me, one for you' attitude at Christmas, I do not earn that much money so I do have to be careful with the amount I spend on myself however that is when things like your Boots Advantage Points come in handy.
A lot of brands have been reducing the amount of rewards you get with their loyalty cards but Boots is not one of them and it has worked in their favour. I always shop in Boots over Superdrug purely because I prefer the Boots loyalty scheme and on days like this, it all seems worth it. Around Black Friday there were a lot of discounts floating around and Boots had 20% off some luxury beauty items. There was a Christmas set I wanted for myself but I couldn't justify buying it however with the 20% off I could afford to buy it with my Boots points! It meant that I got this Fenty Beauty set completely free which is amazing as I truly really wanted it.
Fenty Beauty
Fenty Beauty always create some amazing gift sets, they have mini sets like the
Bomb Baby Set that they sell throughout the year but Christmas is where they really shine. Last year's
Christmas Collection was stunning and I bought a couple of sets for myself as they contained products that I really wanted to try and this year was no different.
The Fenty Beauty sets quite often feature products that are exclusive and also there is usually a discount in buying these sets. Not only that but quite often the products featured are travel size which personally I love. I hardly ever get through a full size product so the smaller products in Christmas sets are ideal for me.
Fenty Beauty have plenty of sets this Christmas so there is something for everyone but they do not over do the Christmas sets. This year they have 5 Christmas sets which is not overwhelming and a lot of brands certainly do overdo it. Lip products do dominate the sets but they are the most generic products. I feel like anyone would like any of these sets if they were given them but there was one set that really stood out me.
Glow Trio Set
From the moment I saw the Glow Trio Set, I loved it and I wanted to try some of the products in the set but at £32 I couldn't justify it. With 20% off and my Boots points, I was not passing up the opportunity to get this set. This set contains 3 different products: a full size Gloss Bomb, a mini Cream Blush and a Diamond Bomb highlight and they all come in the shade Fenty Glow. Fenty Glow was the first shade launched in the Gloss Bomb collection and it took off incredibly quickly, everyone loved it so it makes sense that they made other products in the shade. I mean Charlotte Tilbury has created a whole brand around this.
Gloss Bomb
Fenty Glow Gloss Bomb is a staple in the Fenty Beauty line up and I have tried it before. The first set Fenty launched was the
Bomb Baby Set which contained a highlight and a mini Fenty Glow Gloss Bomb and it completely wowed me. Before trying Gloss Bomb I didn't think I would ever like it or buy the full size but not only do I have it, I now have it in multiple shades. You might continuously tell yourself your not a gloss person but honestly this product will change your mind.
There is a reason we all hate gloss. In all likelihood one of your first makeup products was a gloss which probably contained holographic glitter and was so thick it stuck your lips together. Just the thought of these horrible glosses are enough to make me shudder to this day. Quite often they are sticky, your hair ends up getting stuck to it and it is just an all round mess but you do not get that with Gloss Bomb.
Gloss Bomb is a slightly tacky gloss but it will not stick your lips together, you can just feel like on your lips. It does contain glitter but it is more of a subtle shimmer that emphasises the shine this gloss gives your lips. The finish of Gloss Bomb is the best bit, I've never used a gloss that makes your lips look so plump and glossy, the effect is incredible!
The shade Fenty Gloss is a universal nude that would suit everyone. Fenty Glow is a nude gloss with rose hints so it has the undertones to suit literally everyone. You can throw this gloss on and you do not have to worry about it moving around. I am so pleased to have the full size of this gloss as it can be worn on it's own or over the top of a lipstick which is going to be a stunning look for Christmas.
Diamond Bomb Highlight
Fenty Beauty revolutionized inclusivity within shade ranges but one thing the brand does not get enough credit for is some of the amazing formulas that the brand has created. One of my absolute favourite formulas that they have created is the
Diamond Bomb Highlight formula. I bought the original shade
How Many Carats? when it launched and I loved it! I bought it just before Christmas and I would layer this up to make my skin look like it was embedded with diamonds, honestly it is gorgeous. I wanted to see what another shade was going to be like.
Seeing the shade Fenty Glow I must say I didn't know how it was going to work on my incredibly pale skin but I hoped the formula would be similar to the original as that would mean there would be potential for it to work for me. The original Diamond Bomb was a clear formula with these diamond like glitter particles, it basically looked like there was no product other than these glitter particles. I've never seen a product quite like it but that was what made it stunning and I hoped for the same with the Fenty Glow version.
This does have that same clear formula so this isn't as dark as it looks when you first look at it and when you blend it in, it is just a warm gold shimmer which is actually going to suit everyone. Don't be put off by its bronze appearance as it will actually work on all skin tones. Having said that, I do think this would look best on darker skin tones. For me I think this is going to be great as a highlight topper during the festive season. I love to wear gold tones on my face during December as it pairs well with a red lip to create a festive look and this highlight is going to be perfect for that. This also looks amazing as a lip topper because it adds such a beautiful shimmer to your lips. A bit of this under Fenty Glow Gloss Bomb is stunning and amazing for the festive season.
Cream Blush
The only formula from the set that I hadn't tried before was the Cream Blush formula, I hadn't tried any of the cream products from Fenty so I was intrigued to see how I would get on with this. Cream products aren't typically my favourite but knowing how good other Fenty products are, I felt like this had to be a good cream product.
I always struggle with using cream products but this one is beautiful; it is light, blendable and natural looking. A lot of people like using cream products as they do give more of a natural finish and give a glow to the skin and this definitely provides a glow to your skin. It has a dewy finish but this does also include a shimmer and the shimmer matches that in the Fenty Glow Highlight, it is a gold shimmer so I feel like the two go together perfectly.
The shimmer is not the main thing this product contributes, this blush does have a buildable colour and the colour is beautiful. I feel like this could border on being a bronzer for some people, if they are super pale but this does have a peachy tone when it is blended out. I do not think this is pigmented enough to be a bronzer but it can be built up. I think this shade would be perfect for Summer, it has a bit of a tan to it but also a bit of peach so with a bit of a tan, this blush would be gorgeous and paired with the highlight would be stunning.
I actually really like this product and I think the cream formula is lovely, I would be tempted to buy this in a slightly different colour. To be honest Fenty Glow would not have been my first choice for a blush shade but now that I have it, I do really like it and think it is quite different from anything else I own.
If you are looking for a gift for a beauty lover, this set from Fenty Beauty is a really good option and my favourite from the brand this season. This is still available on the website and full price it is £35. The gloss on it's own is £17 which makes the two mini products £9 which makes this set worth it. Also the two mini products in the shade Fenty Glow are exclusive to this set so by giving this to someone, you are giving them something that they couldn't buy at any other time of year.
