I am not a fan of New York fashion week styles but still i do like and love many designers who show their collections there like Herrea, Hilfiger, de la renta, the new Nicholas K, Jason Wu, Rag & Bone, Marc Jacobs, BCBG Max Azria, ADAM, A. Wang, Herve Leger, DVF, Donna Karan (who's celebrating 25 years of career this year), Rodarte, Kors, R.Lauren and many others.
Georges Chakra is a Lebanese designer who presents his collection during the same week as well; and being Lebanese myself, it is normal to encourage him and expect more from him than any other designer with all the years of experience he has in his portfolio.
I believe it is his 3rd season there with his line called "Edition by Georges Chakra" and i don't really know what happened this year but the collection was a bit under any estimation.
The dresses, the colors and those nude beige heels with silvery dresses!!! An entire collection of dresses (except for one white skirt and jacket ensemble) and this i can take but, do we still want to see those dresses made that way?
Some of the dresses are nice, but even the beautiful dress is killed by the beige color of the shoes matched with it. All along the show it's the same platform and suddenly a black version of those same shoes appears with a black dress only to be followed by another black dress worn with beige again.
The dresses I like :
The very lonely suit:

Dresses I do not like or do not leave any impact in me:
The collection is made of 46 dresses, the rest of it, if i did not feature in this post, it's because it is a deja vu. I don't want to sound like denying the work Chakra did but sometimes less is more, like in this very last pic, the white shiny stones on the chest mixed with that bronze fabric with those beige shoes, for me that's what i call a complete mess. Also the 2nd and 3rd dresses, what are they about i really don't know. They look like a new version of what a Mayan chief may wear for a wedding in the city if they were still living with us.
The attention to the details, to that much details killed, the simplicity of this collection and blinded all the "equipe" of seeing the mess the beige shoes made. And also the shine of the last dresses. By the way, what was the theme and to which woman is he designing, i can't really tell.
I am sorry Mr. Chakra but this time, you missed it.
Sharbel.
