After much waiting thinking of whether to take the plunge with new iMac i7 for AVCHD video editing. Should I also take the plunge with FCE4 or is iMovie 11 able to native import AVCHD, or will need a AVCHD M2TS converter to prevent having massive 10GB+ video files created by iMovie
Thoughts and suggestions ?
I am interested in this, too. I have been editing AVCHD files in iMovie '11 and am looking for some other way as the files are huge and importing the files takes a while. I think it's because iMovie has to convert everything into .mov files.
I got a Nikon D5100 to shoot video with and hope that those files will be easier to work with and import into iMovie '11.

When you say a few dead pixels, how many is there. I am very interested in this but would really like to see pictures of it. Would you sell it without the adapter, I dont need it.
my issue is it is already tied down with another comp that only my mom uses for the most part, and i wanted to find out how much it is worth if i were to get her to let go of it.

I'm not a writer by any means, so bear with me... I'll be as brief as I can... ;)
Around 1991, I became Interested in computers. I started taking some non-credit courses at the local community college (PCs, Windows).. :( I wanted to learn everything I could about computers.
After several courses, I learned that I could use computers for FREE at the local library...
so, one saturday, I went to the library.... with a floppy disk in hand.... to save my work on... (I did know that much about them. I had to save my work).
I walked into the library, and the staff pointed out where they were, so I walked over towards them.... they had 2-3 windows PCs there.... like I used in school....
However, they had another one that "caught" my eye.... It was a little thing.... small black/white screen, 9" in diameter.... all in one.... the entire thing was one piece. I thought that was sort of cool... (I later learned it was a Macintosh SE30)....
It had Word 4.0 on it... and a few kids games.....
I didnt really know much about what I was doing...
I was using Word to create a database of names and phone numbers! Sort of funny today when I think back about this. I was typing names and numbers in a document, and saving to the floppy disk.
after 1/2 hour on this computer, I was hooked..... I spent several more saturdays coming back to this thing... creating my "database"...
But I quickly discovered that "I had to have a Mac of my own".
so I bought my first one...
and the rest as they say is History.. ;)
It's almost and 4 Mac models later, many upgrades, and OS versions from System 7 to Jaguar 10.2.3, I'm STILL using Mac's!
I would NOT have it any other way.. ;)

Hallmark for Mac is the best that I've found. Easy to use with your own design from the included images or from their designs where you can edit most of the type.
thanks for the suggestion, can I use my own photographs in the card designs?

I think what you have is an adapter for the ‘pismo’ PowerBook, which is just 45W instead of 60W (both are 24V so chances are that you haven’t broken anything yet).
Below is what google turned up, but I am afraid they are hard to come by these days.
PowerBook G3 Series Power Adapter
M6384LL/A
PowerBook G3 Series Power Adapter (for Europe and U.K.)
M6548G/A
Output voltage
24 V
Specification
Apple PowerBook G3 series (1998, 1999), 1400 series, 3400 series, iBook Notebook
Capacity
60 W
Power accessories output current
3.2 A

rumor (fact?) #3 might get the entry disqualified, but i like it.
you shoud make the "red" more visible tho
It's an accurate reflection of some posts on the board. The word "ass" isn't taboo here, and it's not me expressing an opinion as much as one of many clich comments we see around here. Some other quotes:
"My powerbook is making strange noises"
"I got a Dell!!!1!11"
"Wait, or buy now?"
"This Tuesday"
and
"I don't get men"

Hey guys,
Do you have any suggestions for some decent/fun split-screen multiplayers for PS3? I have all of the Call of Duty's, but I'm looking for some other games to try with my friends.

I believe you can run up to 10.2.8 on a Beige, but I agree that it's getting a bit too old to be usable these days.
I'm comfortably running 10.2.8 on a beige 300 now - and other than it being a good bit slower than my other machines, it's quite usable. I do plan to replace it in the coming months (just waiting for new machines at this point) but I'll still keep it up and running at home for my kids.
there is a hack under development to allow you to run panther on the beige, but it breaks a few things in order to do so, so I've shy'd away from it for now. If they get it to work 100%, I might try it. Othewise... 10.2.8 forever.
unless there's a 10.2.9 ;)

You shouldn't be worried about messing up the syntax. Regulars can sort that out if needed and you can preview your changes, so as long as the information is there, it should be fine. Even if you make a really bad edit, it can all be reverted if it needs to. Check this out (http://guides.macrumors.com/Help:How_to_Edit_a_Page) if you're interested in editing it yourself. Otherwise, thanks for pointing the page out.

I'm guessing you are interested in Photoshop skills/tutorials:
www.good-tutorials.com is a large database of tutorials.
It has tutorials on other programs as well, it used to be a Photoshop only tutorial website, but now has expanded to a wide array of great programs that are essential for graphic designers.

welcome! There is an introduce yourself type thread in the
community discussion. It is 'sticky' meaning it is always at the
top of the list. You may want to introduce yourself there.
I hope you enjoy MacRumors! :D

I just received a couple to review. I will be posting the review in a day or two after I do some more testing on it. So far I am pretty surprised by the quality. I'm usually not a fan of gel / silicone cases, but I am really digging the Ringke.
Here's some quick snapshots.

What AdrianK says is correct. If you can find "3rd party" servers that run an older version of the game pre 4.0, then you should be able to play just fine. Unfortunately, playing on the official servers will no longer be possible, due to blizzard removing the ppc executable from the game.

I was wondering if anyone knows how to get Windows 7 to play nice with the MDP to HDMI adapter. My TV says no signal. I JUST updated my graphics drivers, but nothing works.
Any help?
EDIT: Or does it only work with MDP --> VGA?

New iMac can be used as a target display if another device supports Thunderbolt. It's been confirmed by Apple.
Only 27" can support Target Display, not the 21.5" right?
OP, I opened a thread yesterday and we have the same situation almost! I purchased a MBP last night but might buy an iMac just to have at home for heavy tasks (little kids gaming and my gaming haha)
