The nail varnish is packaged in a square-shaped (with curved corners) glass bottle. The top black cap has the same rubberised texture as the other Nars product packaging like the blush and eye shadow compacts. Unlike the "caps" of Chanel and Dior nail varnishes, this one actually serves directly as the brush applicator handle (i.e. there is no 'outer' cap to remove). Overall, it's just nice, simple packaging. The brush itself is very thin - good for precise application, though a bit tricky to apply still due to the thick consistency of the nail varnish.
You can see that the brush is fairly thin from side on.
Colour, Finish, Formulation & Longevity
- Nars 'Trouville' is described fairly accurately as a seashell pink. It's a soft, yellow-toned or warm pink. I'd imagine it would look more delicate against those with fairer skin tones and they can easily wear this any time of year. For those with medium to darker skins, 'Trouville' would provide more of a contrast, thereby accentuating their tan even more, so it's quite nice, particularly for summer.
- It has a cream finish.
- The formulation is a bit thick for my liking, which means it's hard to even it out on the nail bed without it looking a bit patchy. It took three coats to get it looking opaque and a bit of patience to get it even.
- Given the formulation is already thick you can imagine that after three coats, it would look quite thick on the nails. This made me worry that it would be easier to chip and scrape off, but actually, it stayed on fairly well. It lasted about 4-5 days on me before it started to show any wear and even then it was just very minor (almost unnoticeable) tip wear. So, I'm pleased with that.
On The Nails...
Against olive tan skin (~NC30). Application was in three coats. Photographs were taken indoors using a strobe.

Final Verdict
A soft, feminine shade that will look pretty on a lot of different skin tones. You just need a bit more patience to apply though! ;-)
