Towards the end of last year Urban Decay brought us another palette to add to our naked collection and with they're being the Naked Palette 1,2 and 3 out and their Naked Basics palettes, it did leave me feeling a little undecided if I should go out and spend my money on what is another palette thats filled with really wearable everyday shades. But the clue is right there, the Naked range from Urban Decay is so wearable and perfect for everyday that I knew that there would be no reason why I shouldn't get this one when I love all the others so much. So I decided to treat myself this Christmas and picked on up and I thought I'd give you an overview and my opinion on this much talked about palette.
The thing that makes the Ultimate Basics palette so special is that all the shades are matte, apart from one highlight shade which is semi matte. Now whilst I do love a good shimmer, I tend to wear more matte shadows for everyday and the fact this palette is full of them really excites me. I just find matte shades to be more wearable and they really work and compliment the rest of my makeup, especially when I'm going all out with my brows and contour etc, you get the idea. The Ultimate Basics contains 12 different shades which are new and unique to this palette, so if you do own any of the other Naked palettes, you don't have to worry about repeat shades. The shadows range from light beiges and nudes to your more deeper and warmer brown shades. Urban Decay have even thrown in a few warm lilacs which is ideal if you prefer a cooler eye toned look. One of my personal favourites from the palette is the burnt orange shade at the bottom called 'Extra Bitter'; this looks so beautiful in my crease and its not a shade I've really seen in other palettes.
Like with all the Naked palettes, the shadows from the Ultimate Basics are of such high quality, each shadow is buttery, smooth and pigmented and blending them out and applying them is a dream. What I've also noticed, is that the shadows are really long lasting and don't crease at all, so a primer is not needed when using it. I'm really lazy and can never be bothered to prime my eyes, so this is a huge perk for me. The original Urban Decay Naked palette is one of my all time favourites, I've used it so much that I've hit pan on a lot of the shadows, but I can honestly say that this palette betters it, if thats possible. I just find the shadows are a lot nicer to use, feel so smooth and I love the selection of shades, they are much more suited for me.
If your someone who loves your shimmery shadows too much, then this palette is probably not ideal for you, but I personally love it and love how we now have a palette thats just dedicated to matte shadows. I've been using this daily since Christmas and I love how its quickly become a firm favourite of mine. Also I think the packaging is perfect! Urban Decay always get their packaging spot on; I love how this palette is quite compact, and the copper detailing on the front of the tin is just gorgeous. The palette also has a large mirror inside and a nice fluffy blending brush making this palette very travel friendly.
For me this palette is worth every penny and I love having it in my collection, what do you guys think?
